We hope that peace may prevail in the country again.” Masuda, a resident of Dinajpur, had come along with her daughter to tour India. They visit north Bengal quite often. Along the Indo-Nepal border, the Nepalese army and the police are keeping strict vigil after a directive issued by the Home Ministry of Nepal. The DG BSF, along with Additional Director General Ravi Gandhi and Inspector General South Bengal Frontier Maninder P. S. Pawar, during the day visited the International Check Post Petrapole and the highly sensitive border outpost at Ranaghat. The main objective was to assess the tactical and operational preparedness and deployment strategies of BSF at these key locations in view of the recent developments in Bangladesh.

At ICP Petrapole, the DG BSF visited the passenger terminal and cargo terminal and reviewed the complex operational challenges faced by the BSF personnel. At the Ranaghat BOP, the DG BSF held a meeting with BSF officers to review the current situation in Bangladesh and discussed operational strategies to deal with illegal infiltration and smuggling. The Director General emphasized the need to increase vigilance and take effective measures to deal with these challenges. At the conclusion of the visit, the DG addressed the officers and jawans in a Sainik Sammelan, in which the current situation in Bangladesh was discussed and clear instructions were given for preparedness to cope with the emerging situation in Bangladesh.
