Incident of Sexual Assault on Minor Reported in Kalimpong: One arrested

KalimNews, Kalimpong, August 27, 2024 :  Authorities in Kalimpong are investigating a disturbing case of sexual assault involving a minor girl aged about nine from the Tirpai area. The incident, which has shocked the local community, was reported yesterday.

According to sources, the case was brought to light following a formal complaint lodged by the victim's parent. The Kalimpong Women Police Station has initiated a case under number 15//24, citing violations of sections 10 and 12 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act.

The accused, identified as Md. Irfan, also known as Azharuddin, has been arrested in connection with the incident. He has been formally charged and presented before the Learned Court for further proceedings.
