CBI Searches for Sandeep Ghosh's Assets Across Kolkata

Don't Miss

KalimNews and Agencies, August 25, 2024: The Central Bureau of Investigation's (CBI) Anti-Corruption Branch launched a citywide search operation today in Kolkata to investigate alleged corruption involving Dr. Sandeep Ghosh, the former Principal of R.G. Kar Medical College and Hospital.

Dr. Ghosh has been facing allegations of significant corruption for some time. Just yesterday, he underwent a polygraph test, and today, despite it being a holiday, the CBI conducted raids at his residence and at the house of Army Subhan.

According to CBI sources, simultaneous searches were conducted at 15 locations across Kolkata to determine whether Dr. Ghosh was involved in corrupt activities during his tenure and, if so, to assess the extent of the assets he may have acquired.

In a related development, a CBI team also visited the residence of Dr. Debashish Som, a doctor in the Forensic and Toxicology Department at R.G. Kar Hospital. Three days ago, Akhtar Ali, the former Deputy Superintendent of R.G. Kar Hospital, accused Dr. Som of irregularities and corruption. Acting on this complaint, the CBI raided Dr. Som’s Kolkata residence this morning.

Meanwhile, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) formed by the Kolkata High Court has handed over several confidential documents to the CBI's investigators at Nizam Palace. Based on these documents, the CBI filed an FIR yesterday and submitted a preliminary report to the Kolkata High Court. The court has given the CBI three weeks to complete its investigation, with the final report due on September 17, 2024.
