Cabinet Approves Development of New Civil Enclave at Bagdogra Airport

Don't Miss

PIB, 16 AUG 2024, New Delhi :
In a significant move to bolster infrastructure in West Bengal, the Cabinet Committee of Union government on Economic Affairs, has given the green light for the development of a new Civil Enclave at Bagdogra Airport, Siliguri.

The project, under the purview of the Airports Authority of India (AAI), will be executed at an estimated cost of Rs. 1549 crore.

The planned Terminal Building, sprawling over 70,390 square meters, is designed to handle a peak load of 3,000 passengers per hour, with an annual capacity to accommodate 10 million passengers. The project includes the construction of an apron with 10 parking bays for A-321 type aircraft, two link taxiways, and multi-level car parking facilities.

The Terminal Building will be constructed as a Green Building, incorporating renewable energy sources and optimizing natural lighting to reduce its environmental impact. This initiative is expected to greatly improve Bagdogra Airport's operational efficiency and passenger services, further establishing it as a key aviation hub in the region.
