NH 10 Traffic Update : Total Restriction from Chitrey to Seti Jhora Imposed
KalimNews, Kalimpong, 3 July 2024 : Due to frequent landslides, landslips, cave-ins, submergence and cracks of road benches, and flooding, the district administration of Kalimpong has restricted the movement of vehicles on NH 10.
A recent notification mentions temporary restrictions and diversions of vehicle movements along NH 10. It states that sections near Melli Bridge, Rabi Jhora, Likhu Veer, 27th Mile, and Selfi Dara (19th Mile) have been damaged due to heavy rainfall. To repair these areas and ensure public safety, restrictions have been imposed.
The order restricts all vehicle movements from Chitrey to Seti Jhora and vice versa on NH 10 starting from July 3, 2024, until further notice.
Alternative traffic diversions have been directed: only small vehicles may travel from Rangpoo to Siliguri via Munsong — 17th Mile — Algarah — Lava — Gorubathan and vice versa. Similarly, small vehicles may travel from Kalimpong to Siliguri via Relli — Samthar — Panbu and vice versa.
Heavy goods vehicles and buses, along with small vehicles, are directed to use the Reshi — Pedong — Algarah — Lava — Gorubathan route to Siliguri and vice versa, round the clock.
Police (Traffic) will impose necessary restrictions at Rangpoo Check post, Melli Bazaar, Chitrey, 29th Mile, and at district borders along NH 10 to facilitate route diversions.
However, there is no mention of movement along the Kalimpong-Gitdabling-Bagrakote route on NH 717A.
