Movement of all vehicles restricted during night on NH10

KalimNews, Kalimpong, 19 June 2024: The district administration of Kalimpong has issued a restriction notice for all types of vehicles on NH10 during nighttime hours. According to a notification issued today by Balasubramanian T, District Magistrate of Kalimpong, the movement of heavy vehicles, including buses, from Seti Jhora to Rangpoo and vice versa via NH 10, is restricted from 6 pm to 6 am effective immediately until further notice.

Similarly, the movement of small vehicles from 29th Mile to Bhalu Khola and vice versa via NH 10 is restricted from 8 pm to 6 am during the same period.

The notice attributes these restrictions to recent heavy rainfall causing damage near Melli Bridge, Rabi Jhora, and Likhu Veer along NH 10. These measures are aimed at facilitating repairs and ensuring public safety and security.

However, the administration has allowed heavy vehicles, including buses, to operate from Seti Jhora to Rangpoo and vice versa via NH 10 during daytime hours from 6 am to 6 pm until further notice. Small vehicles are permitted to travel the same route from 6 am to 8 pm.

Additionally, the notice advises maintaining single-lane traffic at Bhalu Khola, Gareri Khola, Rabi Jhora, and Likhu bhir.

For small vehicles, alternative traffic diversions are in place from Rangpoo towards Siliguri via Munsong, 17 Mile, Algarah, Lava, Gorubathan, and to Siliguri in both directions, available round the clock. Heavy goods vehicles, buses, and small vehicles are diverted through Reshi-Pedong-Algarah-Lava-Gorubathan to Siliguri and vice versa, also operating round the clock.

Police (Traffic) will impose necessary restrictions at Rangpoo Check post, Melli Bazaar, Chitrey, 29 Mile, and at the district border along NH-10 to facilitate these route diversions.
