SUJAL PRADHAN, EOI, GANGTOK, APRIL 11, 2024 : Releasing the election manifesto of the BJP for the assembly election in Sikkim, National President of BJP J. P.Nadda on Thursday called for an end to regional politics and asked the people of Sikkim to join the mainstream.
"Enough is enough; you have to join the mainstream, and the mainstream is BJP. The era of regional parties is over; it's high time to bid farewell to regional politics and embrace the BJP, which promises comprehensive development," he said.
Conveying a message of transformation emphasizing the vision of BJP for the progress of Sikkim, Nadda said: "Gone are the days of corruption and divisive politics; it's time for the lotus to bloom in Sikkim; "symbolizing the symbol of BJP and its potential to bring about positive change.
The manifesto of the BJP, known as 'Sankalp Patra,' was designed specifically for the upcoming Sikkim Assembly Election2024. It was released at the Manan Kendra in Sikkim, with Nadda leading the proceedings.
The 'Sankalp Patra' mainly addressed the pressing issue of unemployment within the state, emphasizing the importance of job creation and overall development. The manifesto also dwelt on revenue generation, outlining both concerns and proposed solutions. It emphasized a firm stance against corruption, promising stringent actions to tackle this issue effectively. Nadda sought to dispel any misconceptions about the stance of the BJP towards Christianity, citing the instance of Nagaland, where the party was a part of the ruling coalition in an overwhelmingly Christian state. He also paid homage to the Guardian deity of Sikkim, Mount Khangchendzonga.
Highlighting the vision of the Prime Minister for the northeast as the gateway of Asia, Nadda underscored the BJP's commitment to ensuring last-mile delivery and connectivity in the region. Contrasting the policy of the previous government of isolation and neglect, he emphasized that the proactive "Look East, Act East" policy of the BJP had integrated the northeast into the national mainstream.
Nadda claimed that the north-east had undergone a transformation under the BJP rule; from a region once synonymous with conflict to one experiencing peace and prosperity. He highlighted achievements such as the signing of 11peace accords, the surrender of over9000 insurgents, an 82 percent reduction in violent incidents, and significant investments totaling Rs 5lakh crore in the region for various developmental projects. He highlighted India's economic resilience under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
“Under the leadership of PM Modi, India has ascended to the fifth position in economic power," Nadda said. "In steel manufacturing, we are now at number two from number four; in the automobile market, we have surpassed Japan, standing at number three. Even in the mobile industry, today you use phones labeled 'Made in India,' not 'Made in China'." Sikkim BJP In-charge Dilip Jaiswal, State BJP President D. R. Thapa, Leader of the Opposition N.K.Subba and Lok Sabha candidate of the BJP from Sikkim Dinesh Chandra Nepal were present.
