Six Darjeeling Municipality councilors switch allegiance to BJP

YAWAN GURUNG, EOI, MIRIK, APRIL 2, 2024 : Six councilors of Darjeeling Municipality on Tuesday joined the BJP, reposing faith in the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, sitting BJP M.P. of Darjeeling Lok Sabha and the BJP nominee for the seat said in a statement on Tuesday.
These councilors were from the Hamro Party. “I accord them a heartfelt welcome to the BJP family.
Their courageous decision, made in the interest of their constituents and the people of Darjeeling, is deeply appreciated. Their joining will not just strengthen our party, but will help establish a vital link between our grassroots and the highest decision making office in the country,” Bista said in his statement.
“I request all political parties, apolitical organisations, and individuals who aspire to dismantle the corrupt Trinamool Congress regime in West Bengal, eradicate the politics of intimidation and injustice that our people have endured, and endeavor to secure a brighter future for the children of Darjeeling hills, Siliguri, and the Terai.
”Raju Bista will file his nomination on Wednesday. He has requested the police and the district administration to make the necessary arrangements so that people face the minimum hassle. “Our gathering for my nomination will commence at Chowrasta at 9.30 a.m.,” he said on Tuesday.
