Matrimony site contact dupes girl of lakhs of rupees

Don't Miss

SNS, SILIGURI, APRIL 8, 2024 : A girl from Siliguri has been duped of lakhs of rupees on a matrimony site. According to the police complaint, on May 8 last year, a young man had contacted the girl, a resident of Hakim Para, through a matrimonial site.
They had been engaged in a conversation, but had never met in person.
The casual conversation gradually transformed into love. After a few months, citing his father’s illness, the young man first asked for Rs 7,000 from the girl and again requested for Rs 17,000 after a few days. In December last year, the man gathered details of the girl’s Aadhar card and PAN card numbers along with her e-mail ID and internet banking password and generated a credit card.
Through the credit card, he allegedly took a loan of Rs 7 lakh from the girl’s bank account and transferred it to his bank account, without the girl’s knowledge.
Later, in April this year, the man asked the girl to disclose her income tax return and asked for more information. This made the girl suspicious and she refused to provide her the details of her income tax file.
Later, as the girl demanded the money she had paid to him, he switched off his phone and stopped conversing with her.
Subsequently, as the girl approached the bank, she learned that a loan of Rs 7lakh had been taken from the credit card registered in her name, which baffled her.
Further, she learned that the money had had been transferred into the account of an unknown name
