RAJESH SHARMA, EOI, JAIGAON, APRIL 17, 2024 : Problems of the Gorkha community have not been solved since Independence, Congress candidate for Darjeeling Lok Sabha constituency Munish Tamang said on Tuesday, addressing an election rally in Kurseong.
The agitation launched in 1986 for a separate state did not bring the desired result, but the Congress government had formed the Darjeeling Gorkha Hill Council. Other parties were misleading the hill people in the name of a permanent political solution.
The BJP had been winning the Darjeeling Lok Sabha seat since 2009 but had not fulfilled the promises made to the Gorkha people.
“ The Railway Printing Press was in trouble and that too was closed during the rule of the BJP.” He said.
