Darjeeling stands for peace, regionalism, says Anit Thapa

EOI, DARJEELING, APRIL 28, 2024 : A day after the 18th LokSabha poll, The Bharatiya Gorkha Prajatantrik Morcha said on Saturday, a day after the second phase of the Lok Sabha election that witnessed voting in the Darjeeling constituency, that it was hard work and efforts to establish a positive, democratic and peaceful environment that had paid off and ensure Darjeeling stands for peace, regionalism, says Anit Thapa peaceful polling in the hills on Friday. 
BGPM president Anit Thapa said it also proved that the people had given priority to peace and prosperity. "People exercised their franchise peacefully. It was a result of our years of effort. We express our gratitude to the voters," he said.
The vote percentage in the Darjeeling seat was66.45 percent, in Kalimpong65.85 percent and in Kurseong 67.67 percent.
While the overall percentage in the Darjeeling parliamentary constituency was 73.64 percent. The plains segments of the Darjeeling Lok Sabha seat comprise Siliguri, Matigara-Naxalbari, Phansidewa and Chopra. 
Emphasizing the need to safeguard regionalism, he said: "Regionalism is our strength and weapon. Regionalism has to be safeguarded at all costs
