Restriction for vehicles movement in NH10 relaxed, Goods vehicle to ply through alternative routes as usual.

KalimNews, Kalimpong, March 27, 2024 : After receiving representations of request from transport organisations, vehicular movement in National Highway 10 is permitted for small vehicles for 24 hours and buses during the day time by the administration.

The National Highway-10, is now open for the public carrier including buses. The Kalimpong district administration, today issued an order keeping the National Highway-10 open for buses from 6 am to 6 pm. It was closed as the recent rain had damaged various areas of the National Highway-10. 

Considering the safety of passengers and vehicles due to the continuous falling of stones on the road, especially at Likhuvir on the National Highway -10 the road is closed for the goods train.

Kalimpong District Magistrate Balasubramaniam T on Wednesday issued another advisory stating that prayers were received from diffirent transport organizations of Kalimpong District in connection with relaxation of previous order of restriction dated 24 March 2024 regarding imposition of temporary restriction/diversion of movement of vehicles along NH 10

It said that a joint survey was conducted by the Transport officials, PWD Officials, Police Officials, and Disaster Management Officials of Kalimpong District on 25 March 2024 to assess the feasibility of plying of Vehicles along NH 10.

After the survey the District Magistrate, Kalimpong issued an order of relaxation and restriction the movement of vehicles along NH 10 per the arrangements below.

1) Small Vehicles: There shall be no restrictions regarding movement of small vehicles along NH 10.

2) Buses: The buses ply through NH- 10 from 06.00 hrs to 18.00 hrs daily until further order.

However Single lane traffic is to be maintained at the Likhu Veer and Rabi Jhora along NH 10: 

3) Goods Vehicle will move from Chitrey - Kalimpong town Algarah - Lava - Gorubathan and to Siliguri and vice versa from 21.00 hrs to 06.00 hrs.

4) Goods vehicle will move from Reshi - Pedong - Algarah - Lava - Gorubathan and to Siliguri and vice versa round the clock.

Necessary restrictions at Rangpoo Check post, Chitrey and at District border - NH - 10 stretch shall be imposed by police (Traffic) for facilitating the route diversion
