YOWAN MOTHAY, EOI, KALIMPONG, MARCH 21, 2024 : Rainfall since Wednesday has damaged various areas of National Highway 10. As a result, travelling on NH-10 on Thursday has become a hazardous proposition.
Shooting stones have made travelling risky along certain stretches of the highway between Teesta and Siliguri. The Kalimpong District Police has diverted the traffic route in view of the risk involved in travelling along NH 10.
Even then, there was a traffic snarl on NH 10 throughout the day because of the closure of the road at Likhuvir.
The Kalimpong District Superintendent of Police said on Thursday traffic had been diverted from NH 10, keeping in mind the safety of passengers and vehicles due to the continuous falling of stones.
Heavy vehicles driving up; from Siliguri to Kalimpong were asked to use the Lava-Gorubathan. Small vehicles travelling from Siliguri to Kalimpong could also use the 27 Miles - Samthar. route
