NH 10 continues to be closed to traffic for a week

PWD was working to restore traffic on National Highway-10.He requested road users to avail the alternative routes till the completion of the repair work. 

YOWAN MOTHAY, EOI, KALIMPONG, MARCH 26, 2024 : The National Highway-10, which was closed since last Wednesday, was not opened on Tuesday either. It has been three days now that vehicles from Kalimpong and Siliguri have been passing through the Lava Road. 

The Kalimpong district administration has diverted traffic routes by keeping the National Highway-10 closed as the rain has damaged various areas of the National Highway-10. 

The step has been taken to ensure the safety of passengers and vehicles due to the continuous falling of stones on the road, especially at Likhuvir on the highway. 

Kalimpong District Magistrate Balasubramaniam T said on Tuesday the PWD was working to restore traffic on National Highway-10.He requested road users to avail the alternative routes till the completion of the repair work. 

KalimNews: The order of the District Magistrate dated 24.03. 2024 states that stretch at Rabi Jhora and Likhu Veer along NH10 has been damaged due to recent heavy rainfall, order of temporary restriction/ diversion of movement of vehicles along NH 10, with a view of repairing the damaged areas along NH 10 and to ensure the safety and security of general public, needs to be imposed.

In this order the DM has directed to restrict and divert the movement of all types of vehicles from Rabi Jhora to 29th Mile via NH 10 until further order as per the following arrangements:-

(I) Vehicle Restriction: 

Movement of all types of vehicle is restricted from Rabi Jhora to 29th Mile via NH 10 from this day the 24th of March 202 4 until further order.

(2) Alternative Route /Traffic Diversions: 

I) Only small vehicles will move from Rangpoo towards Siliguri via Munsong - 17th Mile - Algarah - Lava - Gorubathan and to Siliguri and vice versa round the clock

2) Small vehicles will move from Melli Bridge - Chitrey - Kalimpong town Algarah - Lava - Gorubathan and to Siliguri and vice versa round the clock.

3) Goods Vehicle will move from Melli Bridge - Chitrey - Kalimpong town Algarah - Lava - Gorubathan and to Siliguri and vice versa from 21.00 hrs to 06.00 hrs.

4) Goods vehicle and small vehicles will move from Reshi - Pedong - Algarah - Lava - Gorubathan and to Siliguri and vice versa round the clock.

Necessary restrictions at Rangpoo Check post, Chitrey and at District border - NH - 10 stretch shall be imposed by police (Traffic) for facilitating the route diversion.
