
Kalimpong gets a protection wall for 9th Mile
YOWAN MOTHAY, EOI, KALIMPONG, MARCH 13, 2024 : The
foundation stone of the Hussain Jhoda
protection wall for 9th Mile under
Kalimpong Ward No. 20, was laid by
Gorkhaland Territorial Administration
executive sabhasad Sinora Namchu and
Bharatiya Gorkha Prajatantrik Morcha 33
no constituency president Anup Chhetri.
The Jhora was affecting 46 houses in
the area. In the rainy season, the people of
the area were forced to live in a state of
apprehension. Keeping in mind the
problems faced by the residents of the area,
the the construction of the Jhoda
protection wall has been arranged through
the GTA.
“Due to the GTA undertaking this
project, residents of the area have gotten a
lot of relief,” said Sunita Tamang, a resident
of that area.
On behalf of local people, she
also expressed gratitude to GTA Chief
Executive Anit Thapa and Kalimpong MLA
Ruden Sada Lepcha. Sinora Namchu said
the GTA under the efficient leadership of
Anit Thapa and Ruden Sada Lepcha was
currently completing many developmental
projects in the Darjeeling hills.
According to Namchu, Hussain Jhoda,
located at 9th Mile under Ward No. 20, had been
affecting the people of the area for a long
time.
The complex problem had now been
addressed only during the tenure of GTA
Chief Executive Anit Thapa and
Kalimpong.
She appealed to the residents of
the area to supervise the construction work.
She said that in the coming days, there
would be more development in the area
through the GTA.
