Division between Bengalis and Gorkhas should be a thing of the past, says Anit Thapa

This year’s vote should be a vote to strengthen the unity of the Gorkhas
YAWAN GURUNG, EOI, MIRIK, MARCH 14, 2024 :  The Bharatiya Gorkha Prajatantrik Morcha plans to launch the election campaign for Trinamool Congress candidate from Darjeeling LokSabha seat Gopal Lama from Rimbik. BGPM and Trinamool Congress are in an alliance.
In an appeal to voters, BGPM President Anit Thapa has said: ‘This year’s vote should be a vote to strengthen the unity of the Gorkhas. The old politics of division between Bengalis and Gorkhas should be a thing of the past. The Gorkha community is one that is compatible with all communities.
Bengalis want the Gorkha candidate to win. We should get ready to ensure the victory of our Gorkha brother. Politics should not be done on the basis of emotions. Politics should be based on reality.”
Anit Thapa says the victory of Gopal Lama is certain as Siliguri, too, will give Gopal Lama a big lead. Now it is our responsibility to give him a lead in the hills too. If we lose, the Gorkhas will lose. The Gorkhas should not lose.”
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has given the hill people a great responsibility by nominating a Gorkha with Trinamool ticket.
“This is a big deal for us. It’s a matter of pride. Since 2017, I have been working in alliance with Trinamool. The Trinamool Congress government has fulfilled all the promises. For the past 15year, in the Lok Sabha elections the hills have voted for BJP But the BJP government has not given us anything in the past 15 years.”
