GTA thinks positive, says Anit Thapa; lays foundation of road projects

YOWAN MOTHAY, EOI, KALIMPONG, FEBRUARY 25, 2024 :  “Since2017, no matter how negative others think about us, we think positive,” Gorkhaland Territorial Administration Chief Executive Anit Thapa said in Kalimpong on Sunday while laying the foundation of a road from Pudung to Yok Dulal Village and of a bridge under no. 36 GTA constituency in the Kalimpong district.”
We have always moved forward with a positive mindset.”
He said the people of the area would get a lot of benefit from the construction of the road. Like this road, many other things would have to be built in the Darjeeling hills, he said.
A number of roads would be constructed through the PWD. “The dream of the villagers is now going to be a reality. We are bringing improvements in water, education and health. That's why people's trust in us is increasing,” Anit  Thapa said.
The road from Pudung to Yok Dulal had been built during the British period. Now it was being black-topped. In the absence of a paved road in the area, Students have to walk seven hur5s to reach Kalimpong town to get their education.
Villagers face many problems. Farmers have to walk for seven hours to bring their vegetables in ‘doko’ to the town to sell.
After decades, villagers are happy that the road will now be paved. During the day, villagers accorded warm welcome to the GTA Chief Executive. Kalimpong MLA Ruden Sada Lepcha, GTA Deputy Chief Executive Sanchbir Subba, Bharatiya Gorkha Prajatantrik Morcha Central Committee Member Gopal Lama, Kalimpong Municipality Administrator Ravi Pradhan, KalimpongBlock-1 Panchayat Chairman Mamta Gurung. were present during the event.
