Beautified park to be landmark of Kalimpong

YOWAN MOTHAY, EOI, KALIMPONG, FEBRUARY 23, 2024 : The Industrial Park in Kalimpong, a popular place where tourists and local residents alike spend their leisure time is currently being beautified by Kalimpong Municipality under the Green City Mission. 

The task of refurbishing the park is underway at a rapid pace and is likely to be completed by the coming March. Like the Chowrastha of Darjeeling, Kalimpong Municipality is also working towards establishing this industrial park as a landmark of Kalimpong. 

The park is being built with a focus to provide attractions for visitors, locals and tourists in the evening.

Kalimpong Municipal Administrator Ravi Pradhan said on Friday the park was being built in a beautiful formatere musical performances will be held every evening, from 5pm to 9 pm. Under the Green City Mission,12 projects had been taken up in the town, one of them being the construction of the Industrial Park.

The slogan ‘I Love Kalimpong’ would be placed prominently at the park. A spot had also been selected for taking selfie photos, he said. The park would have a fountain and children’s playing area. There would also be a canteen and a stall selling souvenirs. He asked the people of Kalimpong to protect the park.

“If you build it today and destroy it tomorrow, then there is no point in building it.”
