Manipur CM calls for unity and peace

CM Biren reflected on the state's progress and the challenges posed by recent law and order issues
PTI & Agencies, Imphal, Jan 26, 2024 :  Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh on Friday said members of all communities from each district, except Churachandpur, took part in the 75th Republic Day celebrations at the Manipur Rifles ground here.

Singh acknowledged that the student community’s participation was lower compared to previous years but expressed optimism that it will improve next year.

Singh conveyed his best wishes to the people of his state and the country on the occasion of Republic Day.

He praised Prime Minister Modi’s leadership, stating that under his guidance, the country had become a world superpower.

During his address, the CM expressed gratitude to government officials, police and all attendees for their presence during such a critical time.

Singh stressed the need to respect one another and refrain from infringing on each other’s rights.

He acknowledged the unfortunate events that had occurred in the state but called for unity and peace. 

Singh and the Governor Anusuiya Uikey both stressed the need for unity, peace, and collective efforts to overcome challenges and rebuild the state, while emphasising the enduring values of the Constitution of India.

In his message, CM Biren reflected on the state's progress and the challenges posed by recent law and order issues.

He highlighted the setbacks caused by conflicts, impacting various sectors, and acknowledged the need to rebuild not just physical structures but lives and bonds.

The CM stressed the government's neutrality, emphasising equality and justice for all.

Biren pledged unwavering commitment to bringing back peace and normalcy to the state, urging unity and belief in the power of forgiveness.

He extended heartfelt greetings to the people of Manipur on the 75th Republic Day, acknowledging the challenges faced by those in relief camps and temporary shelters.

In her message, Governor Anusuiya Uikey emphasised the significance of Republic Day and highlighted the historic moment in 1950 when India adopted its Constitution, acknowledging the foresight and understanding of the founding fathers.

The Governor praised India's successful democratic experiment despite challenges, recognising the maturity of the electorate.

She expressed optimism about India's potential to become a leading nation, and called for harnessing of youth potential for a strong, peaceful, and prosperous nation.

She also urged all concern to strive for upholding the secular, socialist, and democratic values enshrined in the Constitution.
