2183 voters increased during the last three years in the Kalimpong Assembly constituency

KalimNews, Kalimpong, 31 January 2024: During the last three years there has been an increase of 2183 voters in the Kalimpong Assembly constituency. The list of electoral roll published by the Election Commission of India on 1st January 2024 states that there are total 218098 electors of which 107586 are male while 110512 are female. In the year 2021 there were 215915 electors of which 106658 males and 109257 females. According to the published report there are no third gender electors. 

The list is prepared after deletion, transfer and correction of previous names and addition of new names. According to the information received 1644 number of voters were deleted due to various reasons like death etc.   

The number of females in the year 2021 was 2599 more than the males while in 2024 the number of females more than males is 2926.There is one municipality (Kalimpong) and four blocks in Kalimpong district and they are Kalimpong I, Lava, Gorubathan and Pedong. Previously there were only three blocks. Presently there are 65 Gram Panchayats in the four blocks and 23 wards in the single municipality. There are also 6 tea gardens and 5 divisions of cinchona plantation.
