Tourist from Kolkata killed, 6 others injured in road accident near Bagdogra
PRASHANT ACHARYA, EOI, SILIGURI, DECEMBER 28, 2023 A tourist was killed and six others sustained serious injuries when a Bolero jeep crashed into a passenger bus in Gosainpur near Bagdogra early on Thursday morning.

The private Bolero jeep carrying seven members of the same family from Dakshineswar in Kolkata towards Chuikhim, Kalimpong, met with the accident around 6 a.m. at Gosainpur.
Local people rescued the tourist strapped in the vehicle and sent the injured persons to North Bengal Medical College and Hospital.
Due to the unavailability of an ambulance, e-rickshaws (Toto) were pressed into service. Indradesh Chakraborty died on the spot while members of his and his sister’s families were seriously injured and admitted to NBMCH.
Indresh’s mother was in a critical condition. Arrangements were being made to shift her to Kolkata for better treatment.
Eye witnesses said the bus coming from Bihad had stopped to drop a passenger when the Bolero driven at high speed crashed into the bus from behind.
