GTA out to set good political culturein the hills, says Anit Thapa
EOI, DARJEELING, 21 DECEMBER 2023 : Chief Executive of Gorkhaland Territorial Administration Anit Thapa on Thursday efforts were being made to bring about good political culture in the hills.
The GTA wanted to take the hills in a good direction. He was speaking at the 23rd Foundation Day of the Darjeeling Press Guild.
“There is friction between political parties and the journalists at times but that is the way of life. It is through you all that we are guided at times and shown the way. Political leaders and journalists are the two wheels of a vehicle that has come out to do something good for the society,” Thapa said.
Journalist Keshav Pradhan was bestowed with the Darjeeling Press Guild Samman Award on the occasion for a career in journalism spanning 40years. Former Darjeeling Press Guild member Suraj Sharma on the occasion launched his translated work "Rabindranath KaKatha Haru", a collection of short stories.
"It is important to preserve our work in Nepali language for the younger generation and research scholars,” Sharma said.
“For the ready availability of references a tour disposal, the GTA should make an effort to digitalize the work of writers and make them available on the internet. This will help our future generation.
