Govt to distribute Rs 1,200cr among Kharif farmers: Mamata

The state government will start distributing assistance of Rs 1,200 core among farmers for the Kharif crop from tomorrow.
Addressing t he audience at Banarhat in Jaipaiguri today, chief minister Mama - ta Banerjee announced that her government would start disbursing Rs 1,200 crore for cultivation of Kharif crop among the farmers from Siliguri tomorrow"
The administration has made proper arrangements for chief minister Mamata Banerjee's meeting at Kanchenjunga stadium on Bidhan Road in Siliguri.
Chief minister has arrived at Uttarkanya, a branch secretariat, near Siliguri, to attend her official programme at the Stadium.
The Trinamul Congress chief, addressing her official programme at Banarhat, asked the audience whether they would believe false promises, accept money from the BJP ahead of Lok Sabha polls.
"They come to buy voters by giving money and false promises," chief minister Ms Banerjee said, adding, "It is your money. The Centre has not disbursed Rs 7,000 crore, which is a legitimate claim for the people who worked under 100-day' scheme."
"I will not allow them to divide Bengal in my lifetime," CM Ms Banerjee said.
Without naming Prime Minister Narendra Modi Ms Banerjee said, " He promised to open a few closed tea gardens in the Dooars. But he failed to keep his promises. But we keep our words as per our commitments."
The CM has asked the Jalpaiguri district magistrate to take back leasehold land for tea plantations of the closed tea estates.
CM also claimed, "Centre cannot claim the l liar Char Jal scheme as its own when the state spends 75 per cent cost of the project and implements it."
She also asked the Prime Minister why free ration distribution was discontinued during post-Covid and reintroduced ahead of LS polls.
"We didn't discontinue the free ration distribution system," she added.
She showcased her series of development works for the north Bengal region and sanctioned a fire brigade station and a block health centre for Banarhat.
The administration has also made elaborate police arrangements on her way to the stadium from Uttarkanya at a time when the BJP activists have planned to hit the street during the CM's programm e here, sources said.
Police today detained BJP MLA from Siliguri, Shankar Ghosh, as he was planning to stage agitation on the issue of playground. His followers staged agitation before the police station this evening.
