Bimal Gurung seeks support in LS poll
Don't Miss
He requested everyone to strengthen his hands in the upcoming elections.
YOWAN MOTHAY, EOI, KALIMPONG, DECEMBER 24, 2023 : With
the Lok Sabha approaching, the activities
of political leaders are also increasing.
Their visits to connect with the people and
increase their base have brought
excitement to the National Highway-10 area.
On Saturday, Gorkha Janmukti Morcha
President Bimal Guru8ng arrived at Riang
Bazar on NH 10. He held a meeting in Riang
and visited the village. He was
accompanied by his supporters coming
from different places.
In a public meeting at
Riang, he welcomed the people of the
village. He interacted with the people of
Riang and inquired about the grievances of
the villagers. He said local youths
were allegedly not getting jobs in the
Sevoke-Rangpo railway project.
In the NHPC only people from outside were employed but the educated youths of Riang were unemployed. Local people raised the issue of Koiri, which is closed in Riang. There was a time when hundreds of people used to earn a living, working on the banks of river Riang and river Teesta, extracting sand and crushing stones in the banks.

Bimal Gurung said apart
from the development work done by
him as chairman of Gorkhaland Territorial
Administration, nothing meaningful had
been done.
“What has the current dispensation
done in the Highway-10 area,” he asked.
“The money for development is going to the
pocket of some people.” He requested
everyone to strengthen his hands in the
upcoming elections.
