Wendy & Mark’s Kitchen was one of the many food stalls, visited by people for a taste of Potato Chicken Chops, Pork Vindaloo and Yellow Rice. “Our Shammi Kebabs are most famous,” said Wendy (in black jacket), who operates out of her home kitchen near Mother House

Flying fast off the counter were the rose cookies and kulkuls from Krispy Crumbs. Other pop picks included cookies from Crusties, doughnuts from Rachel’s Nook and baked goodies from Nisac

Looking stylish, undergrad students Tamanna from Assam, and Lamande from Meghalaya, were hanging out with their friend Muskan. Muskan, who was also at the carnival last year, shared, ‘I’m really enjoying the vibe and music here.’

A choir by 18 students of Dr Graham’s Home Kalimpong spread Christmas cheer through their renditions of carols; music performances by local artistes followed

Santa Claus brought his merry ‘ho ho ho’ to town, carrying a bag full of goodies that sent the children into a frenzy as they scrambled to grab the treats he tossed their way. After that, came the selfies. In attendance were some furry friends too!

Fun games kept the excitement levels high!

‘Years ago, we had the Himalayan Festival at Dr. Graham’s Home, and then for three decades, nothing. So we thought it’s the right time to bring back the charm of the hills, particularly Dr Graham’s Home. This year, we added two small but meaningful additions – Santa Claus and a choir. Our aim is twofold: to bring joy to the alumni and support the children by raising funds to enhance their learning experience,’ said Shane Calvert, chairman of the board of management

Far left is Pauline Sapphire, a board member, who joined Dr. Graham’s after being left at the institution at just nine days old. Adopted by the headmaster and his wife, she found a second home there. Returning from Chandigarh after 30 years in 2016, she volunteered to give back to the place that shaped her. “We support 150 children and offer free education to staff’s kids. This carnival helps raise funds for our estate of 120 buildings, including century-old hostels and a church. Maintenance is a big task. We start with kids as young as two-and-a-half years old, guiding them through Class XII and sometimes even beyond.” With her are Shane Calvert and Denise Smith
