12 TMC supporters get life term for murder

SNS, BIRBHUM 22 DECEMBER 2023 : A Birbhum Court has given life imprisonment to 12Trinanni I Congress supporters for murdering a CPM supporter, today.
The additional sessions judge of Rampurhat Court, Gurudas Biswas has earlier pronounced these 12 TMC supporters guilty of lynching a CPM worker Hunayun Mir (28), a day after the gram panchayat polls on 2013.
The sister of the victim, Jesmina Khatun had lodged an FIR against 14 persons at Rampurhat police station. On 23 July, a day after the gram panchayat polls, the TMC and the CPM supporters clashed at Saipur village in Rampurhat during which TMC supporters allegedly lynched him.
Mir was taken to Burdwan Medical College Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries on 24Ju1y2013.
Rampurhat Police had arrested all the 14 accused persons in this case. Two of them have already passed away. The additional sessions Court of Rampurhat has pronounced them guilty earlier. Jesmina Khatun said that though late, justice has been delivered. The advocates appearing for the accused said that now they will move to higher court to cancel this judgment.
