Two bodies with bullet wounds recovered in Manipur

Ukhrul Times, 9 November 2023, Imphal: Two dead bodies, including a woman with bullet wounds on head, were found in two different parts of Imphal West and Imphal East district on Wednesday, police said on Thursday. 
According to police, the body of a middle-aged woman with gunshot wounds on her head was recovered from the vicinity of Tairenpokpi under Lamsang police station in Imphal West on Wednesday. 
The deceased woman is suspected to be one of the four missing persons, including a kin of an Indian Army, who went missing after abducted by unknown men from Kangchup foothills in Imphal West on Tuesday. 
Police has deposited her body at the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIIMS), Imphal mortuary for post-mortem examination, it said. 
Another dead body of an unidentified man, suspected to be in 40s, was also recovered by locals from Takhok Mapal Makha area in Imphal East on Tuesday night. 
The deceased was found blindfolded with both hands tied behind his back and bullet shots on his head, according to the police. The body has been transferred to JNIMS morgue for identification and post-mortem, it said. 
Police have also filed a regular FIR for further investigation of the twin incident. On Tuesday, five members from the Kuki-Zo community were abducted from the border of Kangpokpi and Imphal West. 
One kidnapped person with severe injuries was rescued by the security forces. At least nine people, including two policemen, were injured after an exchange of fire with armed miscreants involved in the abduction. 
The injured Manglun Haokip, 65, who was rescued from the kidnappers was shifted to Leimakhong and later evacuated to Guwahati for further treatment. However, as per sources, his condition is critical.
