Runners from Sikkim, Darjeeling excel in Brute run in Arunachal
YAWAN GURUNG, SANJAY AGARWAL, EOI, MIRIK / RANGPO, NOVEMBER 22, 2023 : Renu Rana, a resident of Batasia Loop, Darjeeling, and a member of Project Life (Darjeeling) bagged the first position in 60 Km trail run in women's category with official timing of 12:02:37 hrs at BRUTE 3.0 (Basar Running Ultra Trail Experience) held on November 18 at Basar, Arunachal Pradesh.
She, along with three other runners from Sikkim, participated in this trail race under the guidance of Marathon Man of Sikkim Amar Subba who himself bagged the 3rd position in 60 Km men’s category.
His students Nimsang Limboo and Dhan Kumar Manger bagged the 1st and 3rd positions in the 30 km men’s category respectively. The event is part of the prestigious ITRA National League 2023, offering runners the chance to earn ITRA points for World Championships participation, representing India.
Under the aegis of Project Life, just within few years of running, despite being occupied with the responsibilities of managing her small family, Renu bagged the 3rd position at the Tsomgo Ultra (High altitude, 75 km) held on March 2023 and 4th position in Kalimpong Ultra (90 kms) held on April 2023.
