Raju Bista asks Nitin Gadkari to intervene for early repair of NH 10
He informed the Minister about the massive delay in the repair of NH 10 which is the lifeline for the border region of Darjeeling, Kalimpong and Sikkim.
He informed him how on October 4 a massive flash flood on river Teesta washed away many portions of the NH10. Even 45 days after the catastrophe, the road connection had only been restored partially.
Making him aware of the major problems arising out of this delay, he also conveyed to him that while smaller vehicles were able to pass, bigger vehicles such as trucks and buses were unable to pass.
This had caused massive surge in the price of food, fuel and other essentials in our border regions.
Moreover, because of the delay in the repair of the National Highway the truck drivers had been forced to drive on narrow mountain roads, putting their lives to risk, as the cases of accidents soared due to narrow roads.
"I had written to Hon'ble Nitin ji requesting for NHAI or NHIDCL to take over the West Bengal portion of NH10. I have been informed that NHIDCL has taken over the road. I have therefore requested Nitin ji to kindly intervene to ensure early repair of NH10," said Bista
