Darjeeling Hill Marathon and musical concert to project cultural landscape of hills
YAWAN GURUNG, EOI, MIRIK, NOVEMBER 23, 2023 : The 10th edition of Darjeeling Hill Marathon of Darjeeling Police, scheduled for December 24 promises to be a display of athletic prowess.
The event will be accompanied by the Darjeeling Melotea Fest, an international music concert competition, on December 22 and 23. A cash prize worth 9.8 lakhs has been announced for the marathon, with rewards distributed across various age categories.
Additionally, the rock concert carries Rs 10 lakh in cash prize, with Rs 5 lakh awarded to the first-placed band and Rs 3 lakh and Rs 2 lakh for the runners-up. Superintendent of Police Darjeeling Praween Prakash announced this in a news conference in Darjeeling on Thursday.
The event, he said, would underscore the commitment of the police in fostering both sports and musical events on a broader scale, reinforcing Darjeeling's vibrant cultural landscape.
Participants and spectators of the Darjeeling Hill Marathon can anticipate an exhilarating and challenging route through the picturesque hills, promising a breathtaking experience.
The Darjeeling Melotea Fest is set to captivate music enthusiasts with an international music concert competition featuring top talents from around the globe.
The Darjeeling Melotea Fest Rock competition will be adjudged by India’s premier rock band, Parikrama, which will also perform on December 23 as a tribute to their late guitarist, Sonam Sherpa, originally from Kalimpong.
