EOI, GANGTOK, 12 OCTOBER 2023 : A total of 3,871 people have so far been evacuated by air and land routes from the four districts in Sikkim affected by the flash flood. The total number of people confirmed dead stood at 37 during the day, with 78 people still missing. 
Meanwhile, some fraudulent online accounts are being created in the name of providing aid to people affected by the calamity in Sikkim. It is to inform that some fraudulent online accounts are being created in the name of providing aid to the people affected by the calamity in Sikkim.
Over 3,700 people are now lodged in 21 relief camps in the state. 
From Mangan, a total of 2,158 people have been evacuated, among them 1,056 tourists from Gangtok 1,025 people have been evacuated, from Pakyong 58 and from Namchi 630.
On Thursday, 461 people were evacuated by air force helicopters, including 75 taken to Ringhim Helipad, Mangan. Among them there were 17 tourists and three labourers. 
To the army helipad, Libing, 99 people were evacuated during the day, among them 85 tourists, 12 local people and two army personnel. A total of 138 tourists from Lachen and 126 people from Lachung were taken to Pakyong airport during the day, and also 23 local people from Lachen and Lachung. 
As part of the evacuation efforts, the helicopters returning to Lachen and Lachung have been transporting supplies and relief items for the army, ITBP, and other organisations stationed in the remote areas, as well as supplies for the civilian population. 
Several people evacuated from disaster-hit areas of the Mangan district were taken to Siliguri by Sikkim Nationalized Transport buses. The Sikkim Food and Civil Supplies Department issued a notification during the day that wholesalers and retailers who would charge above the rates set could face legal action.
