Kalimpong Girls School to represent the district and state in the National level of Children's Science Congress:

Science project of Kalimpong Girls Higher Secondary School selected for national 

KalimNews, Kalimpong, 18th October 2023: Kalimpong Girls Higher Secondary School has been selected to represent the Kalimpong District and State of West Bengal in the National level of 31st National Children's Science Congress.
Prashanti Sunwar, a class nine student of Kalimpong Girls Higher Secondary School, with the help of guide teacher Yoghmaya Khawas, will present the project “Reassessing the Merits of Underrated Millet (Kodo)” in this national level congress.
It is reminded that along with four schools selected from Kalimpong district, 184 projects from 24 districts of the state were presented in the state level congress organized at Hare School in Kolkota on 7th and 8th October last week. Among these, 30 school projects from the state have been selected to participate in the National Children's Science Congress at the national level.
They will participate in the 31st National Children's Science Congress to be organized during December 30-31, 2023.
Among the schools of the state selected to participate in the 31st National Children's Science Congress, 1 from Kalimpong, 1 from Alipurduar, 1 from Jalpaiguri, 1 from Coochbehar, 2 from South Dinajpur, 1 from Malda, 1 from Murshidabad, 1 from Bankuda, 1 from Jhargram, 1 from West Medinipur, 5 from Birbhum, 5 from East Bardhaman. 1, 4 from West Bardhaman, 2 from Hooghly, 4 from Howrah, 2 from South 24 Parganas, and 1 school project from Kolkota have been selected, according to Arun K Rai, District Coordinator of the Kalimpong District Committee of National Children's Science Congress.
Since this year has been declared by the United Nations as the International Year of Millets, the millet-based project of Kalimpong Girls' Higher Secondary School was very appropriate and this project has also created an opportunity to conduct a lot of research in the field of its use. Rabindranath Mandal, the district inspector of schools (secondary education), Kalimpong district and the principals and teachers of various schools congratulated the school and wished their success in the national too.
Project of Spandan Manna of Dr. Grahams Homes with the help of guide teacher Mona Lama on “Reduction of heavy carbon emissions and traffic jam of Kalimpong through affordable e-cycles”, Prashanti Sunwar of Kalimpong Girls Higher Secondary School prepared with the help of guide teacher Yoghamaya Khawas on “Reassessing the Merits of Underrated Millet”, project of Nikita Ojha of Tista Breeze Higher Secondary School prepared with the help of guide teacher Vishal Rai on “Conservation of Decreasing Spring Water in Hill areas” and project of Muskan Mahato of St. George Higher Secondary School prepared with the help of guide teacher Leo Chhetri on “Wild Edible Fruits of Kalimpong District and their Economic Potentials”, were presented at the state level congress held in Kolkota on 7th and 8th October.
