Inter-institutional media event open its doors for 2 exciting days at Salesian College Siliguri
EOI, SIKKIM, OCT 1, 2023 : The second edition of the highly anticipated “Still in Motion” inter-institutional media event opened its doors spanning for two exciting days at Salesian College Siliguri on September 26 and 27 where the most number of awards were bagged by St. Joseph’s College Darjeeling.
The event was expertly organized by the Department of Mass Communication and Journalism in collaboration with Media Association after the college attained autonomy. It truly provided a blend of entertainment and valuable education for the numerous participants from 10 different institutions across the Darjeeling district.
The competitions were judged by distinguished judges namely Rahul Sambhavi Sinha the owner and CEO of The Cord Bharat, creator at Nikon and a head of his company, Dream Lens Production; Priyam Chettri, a food vlogger with over 11 thousand followers on Instagram; Avijeet Sarkar, Assistant Professor, Department of Mass Communication and Journalism, North Bengal University and Darjeeling Hill University and founder- owner of ‘News at Nine’ and special correspondent, NDTV, North Bengal and Sikkim.
The various segments of the event commenced with a photography competition on Day 1, boasting two exciting themes, Portrait for DSLR and Nightscape for Mobile. Simultaneously, the Short Film and Reel making contests unfolded, where budding directors showcased their talent.
The short films explored the theme of “beauty,” while the reels tantalized taste buds with a focus on “Food”. The commercial Ad film and Film Quiz on the topic of OTT also kept the participants on their toes.
The second day of the event featured competition on Elite Talk where students articulated their ideas, shared experiences, and thoughts on a range of topics. Simultaneously, Treasure Hunt unfolded across the campus.
The event concluded on a high note with a Press Conference which showcased probably some of the future journalists and PR professionals. At the same time, the Principal of Salesian College (Siliguri) Father Babu Joseph, Vice Principal Father PT Saju and Father CM Paul, Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities Ravibhushan Singh and Head of the Department of Mass Communication and Journalism Bhavya Chandra Khati and Media Coordinator Nawaneeta Subba and many other teachers and Hundreds of students participated in it.
