
Senior Nepali writer Nar Bahadur Dahal passes away
PRASHANT ACHARYA, EOI, SILIGURI, SEPTEMBER 8, 2023 : Senior Nepali writer Nar Bahadur Dahal passed away on Friday evening at the age of 86 at his residence in Kiranchandra Tea Estate in Bagdogra. His mortal remains were later taken to his residence in Sukna.
He had been suffering from cancer since long and was staying with his younger son in Bagdogra.
Gorkhaland Territorial Administration CEO Anit Thapa, Darjeeling M. P. Raju Bista, Rajya Sabha M.P. Shanta Chhetri, Kurseong MLA B. P. Bajgain sent condolence messages.
"I am shocked by the news of the death of Nar Bahadur Dahal, a great legend of Indian Gorkhas. All of us have acquired knowledge of Nepali language by reading stories and poems written by him.
There is no Nepalese student who does not read Singarey Paathaa, Padamko pencil. May the departed soul rest in peace," said Anit Thapa. Born in Kalimpong on September 5, 1937, Dahal had made his foray into literature by publishing poems in Prabhat literary magazine, edited by Lain Singh Bangdel from Kolkata.
