NH 10 traffic restored, restricted to light vehicles in a single lane

KalimNews, Kalimpong, 27 September 2023 : On the fourth day traffic in NH 10 is opened after it was closed due to a cave-in near Seti Jhora. T Balasubramanian District Magistrate of Kalimpong stated that temporary restoration work is completed by PWD team and single lane traffic for vehicles (except heavy load vehicles) is open now in the NH 10 (at Sethi Jhora).

He further stated that though filling of the cave-in portion is completed it may take time for stability of the portion thats why only single lane traffic is opened. And it is restricted to light vehicles only. 

According to a source, during the last two days filling of the cave-in portion was futile due to the flow of the running river. But from yester evening it has settled and filling of the huge cave-in was successful after working throughout the night by the PWD.

However diversion for heavy vehicles from Kalimpong and Sikkim to Siliguri via Lava Gorubathan Coronation bridge route is suggested by the district administration.

Other options to avoid the traffic jam are Teesta to Siliguri via Kurseong and vice versa. From SIliguri one may take take the route of Kalijhora- Panbo- Samthar-27th mile route or Kalijhora- Latpanchar- Sittong- Shelpu and Birik Danra road or Kalijhora- Sittong- Jogighat-Mungpoo- Rambi route or Kalijhora to Kalimpong via Panbo.
