Minor girl from Siliguri rescued from Dalkhola, one arrested

EOI, SILIGURI, SEPT 26, 2023 : The Pradhan Nagar police today rescued a minor girl from the Bihar-Bengal border in Dalkhola who was abducted from Siliguri. A youth namely MD Akhtar, a resident of Bihar was arrested in the case.
According to reports, MD Akhtar traveled to Siliguri for work. Following this, he fell in love with the 13-year-oldminor girl living in the area under Pradhan Nagar police station.
On Monday, the accused allegedly lured the minor girl and took her to Bihar from Siliguri leaving the family in distress.
Upon searching, the family got a clue that a youth had kidnapped her. The family members lodged a complaint of abduction in the Pradhan Nagar police station. Based on the complaint, the police initiated an investigation aided by Dalkhola police.
The minor was rescued safely from the Bihar-Bengal border in Dalkhola.
Meanwhile, the accused MD Akhtar was arrested on charges of abducting a minor. Today the accused was produced before Siliguri Court for legal proceedings.
