CSOs endorse RNCM calls for restoration of mobile internet

Agencies, KalimNews, TAMENGLONG (Imphal), Sept. 11, 2023: Many civil society organisations (CSOs) in a separate statement endorsed the stands of Rongmei Naga Council Manipur (RNCM) called for restoration of mobile internet services in one week time in Tamenglong and Noney districts. 

The council gave one week time for the government stating from September 8 and if the demand is not made the council has warned that the public will stage a protest along national highway (NH-37) Jiribam to Imphal.

Rongmei Naga Student Organisation Manipur Tamenglong Luangrian term banning of mobile internet services in Tamenglong and Noney district as ‘unfortunate’ to witness the attitude of the state government. 

They stated that the banning of mobile internet services has severely affected the lives of the people particularly the student community and the ban of mobile internet services is continuing with no end in near sight. 

The organisation appealed the state government to immediately lift the ban on mobile internet services in the two districts including Tamenglong and Noney where the two districts inhibited by Rongmei Nagas who has been instrumental in the process of restoring peace and harmony in the state and assisting every department in the uninterrupted supply of essential commodities. 

In another statement Longmai student’s Union stated that continual banning of mobile internet services for more than 80 days is not only delinked the people from rest of the world but also derailed people daily day to day lives. 

Jangdai Kamei general secretary of Longmai students Union stated that banning of mobile internet services is not just gross violation of human rights but also adversely affect basis service including banking, postal services, emergency medical service, schools and online studies, small business, etc in the region. 

The union has no option left but appealed the state government to act immediate on time and endorse the Rongmei Naga Council Manipur (RNCM) called for restoration of mobile internet services in one week time in Tamenglong and Noney districts. 

Rongmei Naga Student Organisation Manipur Luangba Luangrian and Rongmei Naga Student Organisation Manipur Longmai Luangrian in separate statement also endorsed the Rongmei Naga Council Manipur stands ad appealed the state government to lift the banned on mobile internet services in Tamenglong and Noney districts.
