Why no POCSO against culprit, asks Raju Bista

Don't Miss

PRASHANT ACHARYA, EOI, SILIGURI, 26 AUGUST 2023 : BJP M. P. of Darjeeling Raju Bista on Saturday demanded capital punishment for Mohammad Abbas who was under arrest in connection with the murder case of the16 years old girl student of Matigara.
Bista, who visited the house of the victim and met her parents on Saturday raised questions why the police had not slapped the stringent POCSO Act on the accused.
"We cannot allow the administration to turn a blind eye when "Chota Pakistan" comes up and is set up right in front of our eyes. We cannot afford the police not to answer questions. Why has the post-mortem report of the victim not been made public till date? Why have the relevant sections of POCSO not applied against the accused Mohammad Abbas? Which politicians are working behind the scene to protect the illegal immigrants? We should seek answers.
We should force those who are hell-bent on ensuring the demographic transition of our region to become accountable to the citizens of our region."
Along with BJP leaders and supporters, Bista paid homage to the victim at her house in Tumba Jote, Matigara. He said in such a sorrowful time the family was not alone.
“The whole of Siliguri, Terai, Darjeeling, Kalimpong and Dooars stands with the family: offering strength, empathy, and our unwavering support.”
The spontaneous public support to the strikes called by non-political organizations in both the Siliguri and Terai regions and in the Darjeeling and Kalimpong hill region was a testament to the hurt felt by everyone.
“Despite some elements trying their best to negate the strike, the people from our region have stood solidly behind our daughter and her family.” said Bista.
Along with Bista MLA Matigara- Naxalbari Anandamay Barman, MLA Darjeeling Neeraj Zimba, BJP Siliguri District general secretary Laxmi Sharma and other BJP leaders also participated in a large rally from Pradhan Nagar , demanding justice for the victim.
