Sikkimese thrashed in Bangalore, attackers called him ‘Chinese’

PRAKASH ADHIKARI, EOI, GANGTOK, AUGUST 19, 2023 :  Dinesh Subba a 28-year- old Sikkimiese working in the service sector in Electronic City, Bangalore, was thrashed by three strangers in the wee hours of August 16. 
Dinesh, who worked in a near-by hotel, was on his way home. Dinesh Subba is a resident of Rinchenpong, in Soreng District, and has been working in Bangalore for many years now. Surprisingly, he was jeered with racial slurs by three unidentified persons who called him 'Chinese.' Dinesh also put up his defence, stating that he was Sikkimese and not Chinese. 
To this, the three miscreants reacted violently, beating up Dinesh. Subsequently police personnel in the vicinity in Bangalore found him, bleeding with two head injuries. |They informed the victim's family who rushed to the spot to identify him. 
Thereafter, he was rushed to a nearby hospital which refused treatment under the pretext that it required police presence. 
Later, the victim was rushed to Victoria Hospital in Bangalore. It was there it was learned that he had 18 injuries in his body including the two head injuries, some of which needing stitches. Dinesh was kept under treatment from August 16 to18 and was discharged to go home on Friday night. 
He is still under care in his own residence. Dinesh stayed in Bangalore with his wife, a three month old daughter and an elder sister who narrated the incident to the media over the phone from Bangalore. 
Pooja Subba, the sister to the victim. Said:"My brother was returning from work when the incident happened. He has suffered grievous injuries, including two in the head needing stitches. We have now taken him back home from hospital". 
Subba said: "We intend on dropping the FIR registered to the police as we fear this may impact our income. Fighting a case will be expensive and we have no support as such from anyone nearby.”
