
One arrested for posting vulgar remarks by tagging people in Facebook

KalimNews, Kalimpong 21 August 2023: Cybercrime Police of Kalimpong arrested one person from Arunachal Pradesh for creating a fake account and posting vulgar comments in the walls of some women of Kalimpong and Sikkim by tagging them.
Sources said that Amit Ray of Assam residing in a remote village in Arunachal Pradesh created a fake book account in the name of James Dendi Molomu.
James Dendi is a resident of Lolay Kalimpong but was in Arunchal Pradesh sometimes back.
He had some some altercation with Amit there. Amit took it seriously and to take revenge he created a fake Facebook Id in the name of James and started tagging lad Facebook friends and friends of friends of James with vulgar comments and even posted such videos on their walls.

Police stated that during enquiry it was revealed that James Dendi Lepcha (Molommu) is actually a resident of Lolay and some third person has created a Facebook account in his name and using his photo and phone number to defame him.
In between some persons who had been harassed by the said fake account even landed up at James’ house and assaulted him.
Kalimpong Cyber PS took up the investigation seriously and after obtaining digital evidence arrested Amit Ray (28) of Bongaigaon Assam from a remote village in Arunachal Pradesh on 18 August 2023.
Police seized his phone and found that he had really committed the crime.
The accused Ray confessed the crime and stated that he had done these due to a personal grudge against James.
The police team led by Inspector Rajkumar Malakar produced the accused before the court and sent to police remand for conducting further investigation.
