‘BJP MLAs preparing blueprints to create ruckus inside the Assembly’
Don't Miss
MP | 17 Aug 2023 | Kolkata: Opposition BJP MLAs may create mayhem; attempt to disrupt the second half of the Monsoon session at the Assembly starting from August 22 over the Jadavpur University (JU) incident in which a first-year student fell to his death from a hostel balcony.
Sources said that the BJP MLAs are preparing blueprints on how to create a ruckus inside the Assembly making the incident an issue. Opposition leader Suvendu Adhikari has already given an ultimatum and said that the state Education minister Bratya Basu should prepare his answer over the death of the JU student.
Trinamool Congress has, however, said that after losing people’s mandate in the recently concluded Panchayat elections, the BJP has been trying to remain relevant in state politics. Hence, they are trying to get some mileage by disrupting the forthcoming Assembly session.
The BJP had taken a similar stance in the first half of the monsoon session earlier this month as they tried to disrupt the House on various issues.
They took up dengue and some other issues during the first half of the Monsoon session. Incidentally, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had instructed the police administration to take steps against those who were involved in the mysterious death of a first-year student of JU.
Banerjee on August 14 lambasted a section of Marxists and Leftists for the JU incident. She also alleged that the police are not allowed to enter the university.
Banerjee also expressed her sorrow after the incident. She said that the victim’s father told her about his pain and how his son was tortured. She had also urged younger generations not to enrol in CPI(M) or BJP. “If you are interested in politics, do not enrol in CPI(M) or BJP because they are the ‘destructive forces’ and not constructive forces,” she said.
