Situation in Manipur still tense but in control, police vigilance increased


KalimNews, Imphal, 26 July 2023 : During the last 24 hours, the situation in the State is still tense but under control stated Manipur police in a press release. 
State Police and Central forces conducted search operations in the vulnerable and fringe areas. 
In the torching case of 2 buses at Sapermeina, Kangpokpi, nine persons including one juvenile were arrested in c/w the case. 
In the case of viral video parading naked of two women on 4" May, 2023, the state police is continuously conducting raids at many suspected hide-outs to arrest the remaining accused persons. Till now, seven accused persons have been arrested. 
On 25th July 2023, suspected armed miscreants fired in Heikol, Phougakchao Ikhai areas in which three civilians sustained injuries. Security forces retaliated the firing and repelled the miscreants. 
On 26th July 2023, an unruly mob burnt around 15 to 16 abandoned houses and partially burnt the Forest Guest House at Moreh. Security Forces intervened and dispersed the mob. 
A total of 130 Nakas/ Checkpoints were installed in different districts of Manipur, both in the hills and the valley and police detained 455 persons in connection with violations in different districts of the state. 8. Movement of 953 vehicles on NH-37 and 246 vehicles on NH-2 with essential items have been ensured. Strict security measures are taken up in all vulnerable locations and security convoy is provided in sensitive stretches in order to ensure free and safe movement of the vehicles. 
Police made appeals to the general public not to believe in rumours and be aware of circulation of false videos. Any circulation of unfounded videos etc may be confirmed from the rumour free number - 9233522822 of Central Control room. Further, appeal is made to public to return the looted arms, ammunition and explosives to the police or nearest security forces immediately.
