Serial theft in Siliguri shopping mall parking lot

EOI CORRESPONDENT, SILIGURI, JULY 4, 2023 : In a sensational case of theft in the parking lot of a shopping mall at Matigara in Siliguri, burglars on Monday evening broke open windows of several cars and stole expensive items, including laptops and cameras.
After the incident, the security system of the shopping mall has come under the scanner. “I have come to Siliguri from Uttar Pradesh. Yesterday, I went to the Matigara shopping mall to shop. The car was parked there. Then I came back to find that the glass of the car was broken and several things in the car had been stolen,” Shahid Jamal, one of the victims, said on Tuedsay. “When the security personnel were asked about the matter, they said they did not know anything about this."
It was learnt that a parking fee was charged for parking vehicles at the shopping mall and people felt safe about parking their vehicles there. The Matigara Police are scanning the CCTV camera in search of clues.
