Kuki militants continue attack Meitei villages in periphery areas Manipur

KalimNews, Imphal, 3 July 2023; Kuki militants continue to attack Meiteis villages in the periphery areas even after the Union Home Ministry Amit Shah has expressed that the Kuki militants under the Suspension of Operation (SoO) who violating ground rules and resorting to unwanted actions, the central government only decided to look into the matter. 
The Kuki militants continue to attack Meiteis villages in the periphery areas even, today  heavily armed Kuki militants attack villages in between Imphal West and the Kangpokpi district at Leikinthabi area morning. At least four houses including a farm house was burnt down by heavily armed Kuki militants under Sekamai police station in Imphal West district.
Following the attacked village defenders from Sekmai and various part of the Imphal West and East district thronged to the area and retaliated the attack. At around noon, the village defenders tried to drive out the armed Kuki militants however were unable to do so as the militants were reported to strategically took their position at the hill areas.
The Manipur police control room stated that the situation is tense in some places and, suspected Kuki militants fired from the adjoining hill range towards Leikinthabi and Chirik villages in Imphal West district. And burned down some farm houses in the Chirik village. An operation was immediately launched in the area by the state police and Central Forces.
Till now 50,648 people displaced by the violent crisis are currently taking refuge at 349 relief camps.
The continuing ethnic strife in the state has, according to estimates, claimed 130 lives so far.
