Damdim's youth drowns in Chel river in Gorubathan

KalimNews, Kalimpong, 22 JULY 2023: An adolescent boy aged 15 years was drowned in Chel River. 
Tanmoy Das (15), a student of Caesar School Mal Bazar and resident of Damdim under Malbazar Police Station died while he slipped and fell in to the river. The incident happened at about 12.30 pm on Saturday. Tanmoy along with his two same aged friends Abhijit Das and Bikki Shah, came to Gorubathan and went to Chel river near the picnic spot for taking bath and enjoy the river. 
Tanmoy slipped on a big stone while playing in the river bed and fell into the river was washed away by the river. 
He tried to save himself but was unable to save him while his friends too tried to save him but they too couldnot as he was washed away by the river. On finding no alternative they cried for help. Their shout for help was heard by the local people who rushed to the spot in the river . After some search they rescued his body which was brought to Gorubathan Block Primary Health Centre. On examination, the attending doctor pronounced him brought dead. The dead body is sent for post mortem. 
People who donot know well swimming and are reckless while playing near the river or gofor river bath may face such disaster said a police officer.
