Anit Thapa wants a government in Delhi favourable to the Gorkha cause

Yowan Mothay, EOI, Kalimpong, 27 July 2023 : Addressing the Martyr's Day programme organized by the Kalimpong District unit of Bharatiya Gorkha Prajatantrik Morcha on Thursday, 

BGPM president Anit Thapa said that the battle of the Gorkhas had been long and the dream of Gorkha martyrs had not been fulfilled yet. 

Thapa also said that the way of asking for Gorkhaland was not right in the past and that they had now taken a new path. 

“We have come to know that Gorkhaland cannot be obtained by making martyrs. It has been established that Gorkhaland cannot be formed by destroying the womb of our own mother, and by making a widow. We had a lot of faith in the BJP. All the martyrdoms after 2007 were because of the BJP. People have faith in BJP and voted for BJP. The BJP has formed the government. But after 15 years we have realized that their thinking towards Gorkhas is not right. 

The term of the current M.P. is about to end, but still there is nothing for the Gorkhas this time,” Thapa added. 

He said that an ideological movement was needed for this, but the BJP-led Centre had turned a deaf ear.. Not a single word of ours is heard. 

Many of us became martyrs during the BJP rule. The BJP has told untruths to us. It is not likely that Gorkhas will get justice during the BJP government. A government that will bring justice to the Gorkhas will definitely come to power at the Centre. For 15 years, the BJP government failed to realize the dream of the Gorkhas. 

The BJP government does not listen to Gorkhas. I think the day a government that loves Gorkhas comes to power at the Center, the dream of Gorkhas will come true, said Thapa. 

Like every year, this year too, the Martyrs' Day on July 27 was observed by paying homage to the martyrs of the Gorkhaland movement. The Martyr's Day is observed to remember the martyrs of the Gorkhaland movement, was collectively organized at the Martyr's Park, 11 Mile in Kalimpong.
