Transfer applications of high-ranking Kuki officials on radar
Accepting and concentrating transfer of high-ranking administrative Kuki officials in certain areas would be synonymous to fulfilling their demand for separate administration, Womenfolk of Kandangband village in Imphal West said.
IFP Bureau, 24 JUN 2023, IMP : Womenfolk of Kandangband village in Imphal West on Friday appealed to authorities not to grant transfer applications of high-ranking administrative Kuki officials and highlighted that accepting and concentrating their transfers in certain areas would be synonymous to fulfilling their demand for separate administration.
Speaking to the media at Kandangband Apunba Community Hall, secretary of Kadangband Apunba Nupi Lup Santileima expressed disappointment over the transfer demand by several Kuki officials amid the crisis in the state.
She reiterated that authorities should not give in to such reckless demands and further cautioned that a massive agitation would break out in Manipur if authorities concerned gave in to the demands for separate administration.
“They have blocked the National Highway which is causing numerous problems for all people in the state regardless of tribal or Meitei over their unfounded demand,” she said.
She questioned why the Central and state governments were staying silent when the state had been reeling under immense pressure for nearly 50 days.
She also mentioned that the attacks of suspected Kuki militants had not stopped and added that the militants had now started attacking civilians with deadly weapons.
“Not knowing when they will attack has rendered many sleepless nights for the villagers in the periphery areas but even when Manipur is burning the state ministers are concerned about holding on to their political power,” she said.
As such she further stated that all womenfolk of the Kadangband area would support any agitations which call to safeguard the territorial integrity and unity of Manipur.
