Central govt approves nine major projects
YUWN MOTHAY, EOI, KALIMPONG, JUNE 9, 2023 : Continuing with the development of rural areas, the central government has approved 9 major projects for rural road upgradation, including 33 roads in the core network for Kalimpong district. This was revealed today by Darjeeling Lok Sabha MP Raju Bista.
According to Bista, similar project approvals have already been given for 12major roads in the Darjeeling hill region. The finalization for Siliguri Mahkuma Parishad will also be done in the next few days.
The approved projects for Kalimpong District are Sherpa Gaon to Shermali Road, Pan Dara to Kumai More, Kumani More to Rangta, Ambakay Golai to Charkhol Fatak via Kalden Dara, Hanuman Fatak to Chuikhim via Fyangtar Kambal, Pedong (Reshi Road) to Bhalu Marg via Phurun Kamzer, Nok Dara to Samabeong, Deorali Fatak to Lava (9th Mile) via Nok Dara, Lava Road (6th Mile) to Kagay In total, the central government has approved the development of 213 km of rural roads for Darjeeling and Kalimpong areas, Bista said.
He added, it is the responsibility of every local community to ensure zero corruption in these projects and hold departmental engineers and contractors accountable for implementing projects strictly according to government standards. He also appealed to local political party representatives, contractors, departmental engineers to make maximum use of these funds and build good roads.
Expressing gratitude to the Prime Minister for approving the above plans on behalf of the people of Kalimpong district,
Bista said, We are grateful to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Rural Development Minister Giriraj Singh for giving high priority to the development of rural areas in Darjeeling Hills, Terai and Dooars.
