Bengal Governor to spend 4 days in Darjeeling to ensure peaceful poll


EOI, SILIGURI, JUNE 26, 2023 : Governor of West Bengal C. V.Ananda Bose will spend four days in Darjeeling, overseeing the arrangements for the panchayat polls in north Bengal himself. The Governor arrived in Siliguri on Monday afternoon. 
He visited the North Bengal University. Later, before leaving for the Raj Bhavan in Darjeeling, the Governor in a news conference made critical comments about the panchayat election scenario in north Bengal.“I am on a visit to north Bengal. 
I want to check the situation of the panchayat elections myself. I will visit the areas considered sensitive in view of the panchayat election. Some terrorism, some clashes, have taken place indifferent places. I want to go to those places myself and find out the situation. 
I want to meet the victims. I want to know how the incidents happened. Until we go deeper, the real reasons will not be known.
”He said during his stay in Darjeeling representatives of any political party could meet him. Along with Darjeeling, he will also visit Jalpaiguri, Cooch Behar, Alipurduar and other districts of north Bengal. 
He will communicate with the victims of violence while filing nominations for the panchayat election.
