TT Bureau, Siliguri, 17.05.23: Two suspected drug peddlers were arrested with narcotics worth around Rs 30 lakh here on Monday.
Police nabbed Hasikul Sheikh, from Suti in Murshidabad, and Mohammad Nur Alam, a resident of Adarshanagar in Siliguri, with 290 grams of brown sugar, a derivative of heroin, and 1,000 sedative tablets. Also, two cell phones were seized from them.
The cost of the seized narcotics is around Rs 30 lakhs, police sources said.
‘Poacher’ arrested
A person accused of killing birds of different species for its meat was held in Jalpaiguri district on Tuesday. “Bishnu Das used to set fire to trees and plants to catch birds. He was caught red-handed while making a similar attempt in the Farabari forest beat area,” said a forester.
